Spring and summer are the seasons for celebration. Whether it’s a wedding, anniversary party, or shower, it seems like from the first full bloom until Labor Day, everyone’s social calendars are bursting. When it comes to your own baby shower, being the guest of honor is exciting: you’re surrounded by the people you love, who are showering you with well wishes & memories to help you kick off the next chapter.
This past year has shifted how we celebrate any milestone, and welcoming a little one into the world is no exception. Lesley Anne Murphy, travel blogger and yoga teacher extraordinaire, gives her top tips for a digital baby shower, which can still be just as stylish & entertaining.
LESLEY’S TIPS FOR A FLAWLESS SHOWER
A designated planning committee to organize the shower.
An MC (master of ceremonies) to host. This helps the shower move along swiftly without participants sitting around/getting bored.
Designated speakers/leaders to lead certain games.
Planning committee to send cute decor and goodies to the venue (or set up inside your house/venue if they live nearby and are COVID-free.)
LESLEY’S GAME IDEAS: ACTIVITIES PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY WANT TO DO
GAME: Baby Food Taste Test – Have someone on-site (hi, mom) pick up 7 jars of baby food for the parents-to-be and take off all labels. Alex and I had to guess the flavor of each (gross). Alex won this round!
Q&A: Have a designated person ask specific Qs for the mama-and-partner-to-be OR plan a fun rapid fire round where the mama and partner give one-word answers.
GAME: Baby Bottle Chugging Contest – The parents-to-be chug their drink of choice out of a baby bottle. In our case, my mom and Alex went head-to-head and chugged beer instead! Pro tip: cut the end of the nipple off for the beverage to go down a little faster. My mom was tipped off and needless to say, she won.
GAME: Guess the Due Date – Have everyone submit their own due date and send off a prize to whoever wins/gets closest.

Presentation of the Gifts: If there is a host committee gifting a big present to the parents-to-be, presenting it via Presentation Mode by sharing your screen is always fun. During the presentation, the MC shares the screen to show off a document with screenshots describing each item and the meaning behind it.

Dress from head to toe. Think about your jewelry, hair, and of course, shoes. Don’t let a bold & beautiful dress go to waste by not pairing it with accessories to match.
